Abstract
Fear and anxiety are part of child development and are common behavior disorders during pediatric dental care. Such feelings are a major barrier to accessing and providing adequate dental care, as the patient feels fear and avoids going to the office may lead children and/or their parents/guardians to cancel or postpone treatment, aggravating their oral health condition and resulting in more invasive later therapies. Thus, it is proposed to evaluate the relationship between anxiety and/or dental fear and the quality of life relevant to the oral health of children through a critical review of the literature available on PubMed, where the search for terms related to the subject retrieved six studies considered. eligible and included. From then onwards, the negative influence of fear and anxiety on the quality of life related to the oral health of children and adolescents is observed, in addition to other factors such as gender, dental history and maternal anxiety, which aggravate and influence this situation.
